Keeping Myself Honest 5

Spiritual:  I'm a few pages behind in my scripture reading, so I'm cutting this short tonight so I can go catch up!

Physical: I was doing FABULOUS until 2 weeks ago when I did something unfortunate to my posterior tibial tendon. I am trying to behave so I can start running again in a few more weeks. It was completely my fault. I did not listen to my body one night and am losing a month of training because of it. grrrrrrr!

Financial: Not so great this month. We had several unexpected things pop up, but also, I just wasn't as diligent about being prepared when I went grocery shopping. I did a lot of "I'll just run out and get..." type trips to the grocery store. It's amazing what a difference that makes!

Organizing: The challenge wasn't very challenging this month, because I was already up to speed in those areas covered. April is a whole different story!

I'm ready for a new month and the chance to start fresh, so to speak!

Books I Read in February: (Slightly higher number thanks to the lack of running.)
Stay
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
The Importance of Being Seven
Mrs. Pollifax Unveiled
Smokin' Seventeen
The Mark of Athena
Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie
Forever
Explosive Eighteen
In the Garden of Beasts
Code

How was Stay? I've had it on my shelf for forever.

Wasn't Perks sad?? Good, but sad. I remember hiding Forever from my Mom because I was forbidden to read it. :) Definitely just made me more determined.

Hope you get back to running in April, injury free.

I'm feeling like this is a time for renewal and beginning again. I think Easter makes a lot of sense to look at what we want to change and adjust.

So sorry about your foot. That is very frustrating. I hope it gets better soon.

Tricia, I read it because a friend of mine is friends with the author. It's not bad, but I like her second book (which I read first) better. I felt like things happened too quickly in some cases, and took too long in others. So, the timing always felt a little off for me. That being said, I think the author did a good job with not making any of the characters too likable. They all had their foibles.

Stacey, I had never read it before but always heard about it as the first YA novel put out there to help educate young women about sexuality. I didn't love the writing style and found myself trying to figure out why she would date him in the first place, let alone be obsessive about the relationship. Of course, I'm reading it as an adult. Maybe if I'd read it earlier, I would have liked it more. It has clearly resonated with others over the years.

Thanks, Beth. I hope so, too!

Oh! As for Perks of Being a Wallflower, I LOVED the movie and then read the book (I almost never do this), but the music was a big part of the story arc for me and a big part of why I loved it. The author also wrote the screenplay and I think he did an excellent job with the book, but an even better job with the movie.
