RIP

My digital camera breathed it's last horrible breath at the very start of vacation, of course. I am in the market for a new and fabulous one. I need small, user friendly, and decently priced. I do not need fanciness. I'm not a photographer. I'm a picture-taker.

Suggestions? Advice?

I love our Sony Cybershot (7.2 megapixel). It's small so it fits in my purse easily. It must be user-friendly because I can understand it. I can't remember how much it was but knowing what I would be willing to pay it was probably no more than $150.

Sony and Canon both make good little cameras. I have a canon. My only complaint is that it was so small and portable that I accidently slammed it in a car door because I forgot it was in the pocket of my jacket. The camera still works, but I can't use the LCD screen anymore. Moral of the story: make sure you know where your little camera is. Otherwise, I've really enjoyed it. I would also recommend you get a model with image stable-izing (I don't know how to spell that). Mine doesn't have it, but the very next model does and I wish I had waited for it because I apparently need it.

We have a Panasonic Lumix - works really well - very user friendly - allows for standstill picture taking and video taping.... was priced around $150 at Walmart maybe 6-12 months ago - not sure what it's going for now.
